Meant to Be

Open wound. The crust has fallen.

Blood gleams against the skin

Once brown, now smoking pale,

Waiting for pain to slowly sink in.

Hollow smiles, all spread on purpose,

So hollow, laughter simply echoes.

False tears shed on false shoulders,

Untouched by real joys and woes.

Love, consuming (yet calculated),

They say it’s all about fair share.

The accounts of give and take should tally.

We failed to learn (our love is rare).

Empty minds, eyes exhausted.

Dreams running the world’s rat race.

Money pours in, people pour out,

Values bought to mask the face.

This is how I have seen it happen

This is what the world taught me.

This is what I have to live,

This is how it’s meant to be.

  1. It seems really strange when you read someone’s poem and try to make a comment. My comments are not my opinions but appreciations. I am not judging you but showing my gratitude towards your poems. Blessings and love. Keep sharing beautiful insights.
