Someone knocked this afternoon,

I rose, opened the door.

He tripped in and said “Sorry!”

And vanished as before.

I looked out, flabbergasted;

No one beyond the wall.

It was still a little shocking;

Wasn’t expecting his call.

He left pretty abruptly,

Yet left a little trace:

The earth, perfumed just slightly,

A fresh tan on her face.

An error on his part

(It was not meant to be)-

A summer evening splashed

With monsoon’s early glee.

Mistakes often happen,

But once in a pleasing while,

A mistake comes in tripping,

Knocks our doors and makes us smile.
